Brennen Leigh is an American artist whose classic storytelling style has created a cult following across the USA and Europe. By turns heartbreaking and hilarious, her songs have been recorded by Lee Ann Womack, Rodney Crowell, Charley Crockett, and many others. A triple threat as writer, singer and instrumentalist, it’s no surprise Leigh caught the ear of masters like Guy Clark, who colourfully endorsed her flatpicking: “Brennen plays guitar like a mother****er”; and the late, great David Olney, who described her writing as “tender, violent, sentimental, foolish and wise.” Always and assuredly precise in her ability to craft classic country music of the highest calibre, her latest album - the uncompromisingly titled Don’t You Ever Give Up On Love - is packed full of playful earworms, tender tearjerkers and honky-tonk quintessence that two-steps straight to the heart.
