Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra joins forces with Black Top, the acclaimed duo of legendary pianist Pat Thomas and virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson.Black top area shape-shifting unit dedicated to exploring the intersection between liveinstrumentation and lo-fi technology. Their freely improvised performances fuse twisted loops, samples and deep dub effects with a spontaneity rooted in experimental free jazz and their Afro-Caribbean heritage. Here they collaborate with Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, described by BBC Radio 3as “one of the best large improvising ensembles in the world.” This electrifying meeting unleashes fearless improvisation and boundary-pushing sound worlds, from shimmering textures to explosive rhythmic interplay and moments of striking intimacy.
