WHA'S SHOWCASE: HAZE AND IDIOGRAM

DOUBLE HEADLINER

FRIDAY 12TH MARCH 2027

Doors 7.00pm

The Wizards of Progg, GTF Agency and BYF proudly present the inaugural Wha’s Showcase.

Wha’s Showcase: Haze and Idiogram, Ivory Blacks, 12 March 2027, doors open at 7 pm

The new Wha’s Showcase format does what it says on the tin: giving potential festival goers a taste of what to expect. It will feature a Scottish band paired with a visiting band. Idiogram will be performing at Wha’s Like Us 3 in 2027 and Haze will be our Special Guests as part of their 50th anniversary tour in 2028.

Haze

Formed in 1978 by brothers Chris and Paul McMahon, Sheffield’s finest, Haze, adopted the name of a brand of air freshener with a characteristically tongue-in-cheek approach. In stark contrast to the dark, moody and introverted sounds favoured by many of the bands with whom they shared the stage at London’s legendary The Marquee, Haze revelled in an exuberant and exhilarating blend of folk, prog and rock with a hint of metal. Always flamboyant, yet never flippant in terms of musicianship, Haze are effortlessly entertaining. Their superb new album The Water’s Edge shifts from a smattering of punk through medieval jaunts, to soothing ballads and reflective wistfulness. A majestic succession of moods and styles revealing a band at the height of its creative powers.

Idiogram

East Lothian’s idiogram burst on to the scene at the Temple of Prog II and their debut album Reunion of Broken Parts is a beautifully crafted and atmospheric soundscape defying easy classification in the best tradition of prog. One moment precise and crystalline, like the diamond tip of a stylus, the next ethereally swirling and impalpable, Idiogram never cease to beguile and intrigue. Collaborator Sam Healy’s live interpretation of the music ensures that no two performances are alike.
