TV Smith is the former singer and songwriter of The Adverts, one of the original and most innovative and exciting punk bands from the London 1970s punk
scene, releasing two incredible and still relevant albums; Crossing The Red Sea With, and Cast Of Thousands before imploding in 1979.

In the short lifespan of The Adverts, the band achieved an impressive history, including record deals with Anchor & the infamous Stiff Records, touring with
the Damned and Iggy Pop, recording a Peel Session, playing live on Top Of The Pops and the Old Grey Whistle Test, and not forgetting having several top 40 singles, including the notorious 'Gary Gilmore's Eyes', 'Bored Teenagers' and 'No Time To Be 21.'

After The Adverts imploded, TV continued in TV Smith's Explorers, releasing the single 'Tomahawk Cruise' and the album 'Last Words Of The Great Explorer'
until 1983 when TV released his first solo record; 'Channel Five.' Next, TV formed the band Cheap who toured relentlessly from 1986 until 1991. Their album 'R.I.P.... Everything Must Go!' was released posthumously.

Since the early 1990s, TV Smith has toured worldwide (solo and with backing bands), released nine incredible and uncompromising albums, written and released
five books of tour diaries, and collaborated regularly with bands such as German punks Die Toten Hosen (who recorded an entire album with him, and whose drummer regularly tours with TV in Germany), and American punk band AMEN, who paid tribute to The Adverts
by covering several songs with TV himself in a BBC Radio 1 Session.

In 2012, TV was the subject of an excellent full-length documentary for BBC Four entitled We Who Wait. (link included).

Most recently, TV released his first ever lyric book, entitled The Alternative Top 50, featuring an extensive introduction from one of TV's biggest fans;
Henry Rollins (Black Flag/Rollins Band), and in 2018, he released his latest record, 'Land Of The Overdose'
