Glasgow Americana: Sarah Jane Scouten
plus support
THURSDAY 6TH OCTOBER 2022
Doors 7.30pm
Sarah Jane Scouten writes folk and country music that sounds timeless, like something from your dad’s old folk revival records but then turns around and does something surprising and modern. Raised by a Glaswegian mother on a tiny island off the west coast of Canada, life was imbued with bluegrass and folk song from the beginning.
Since then Sarah Jane has sought the roots of folk and Americana music at their source from West Virginia to the Canadian Rockies and all over Britain. True to form, her songwriting style is authentic and utterly her own. With four Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, she has shared the stage with Martin Carthy, Sam Lee, Allison Russell, Watchhouse and Martha Wainwright.
Sarah Jane lives in SW Scotland where she’s been writing a new album while training to be a herbalist.
