Shock City reintroduces the New Blood series with a triple bill of varied acts who have or are about to release albums/EPs. Get in on the ground floor and watch some new acts grow and flourish in the New Bloods series. Opening act recently played as support to John Taylor at the Hard Rock Cafe and has a growing reputation in the circuit. She concentrates on her own compositions but has been known to do versions of Joni Mitchell songs. One of Scotland's promising singer songwriters destined for greater things. Equally, from a relatively recent debut live appearance, Glasgow based Humanity Deluxe have hit the ground running with the release of their first album (also available on digital/streaming platforms) and a forthcoming well received EP. Their dynamic brand of rock has echoes of the 70s and features some excellent melodies and vocal lines over a driving rhythm section. The Meissner Effect is a band difficult to categorise as they blend elements of funk/rock/pop/soul. Two singles have been released to date with the debut album slated for release later this year. The band have received positive reactions to their live shows where they have developed their songs as support to acts like Brave Rival and The Tomorrow Band, and have started to break into the Festivals circuit. Reviews have commented on the high level of musicianship and composition within the band. Another band to watch out for in the coming months and years. Support these new acts - you never know what you might discover!
