performance poet John Cooper Clarke first became famous during the late 1970s in the punk-rock era. Having released albums from the 1970s and after touring with most of punk’s seminal bands including the Sex Pistols , The Clash, The Fall and Elvis Costello, he drew in a crowd in his own right – even having Joy Division and New Order opening for him.
John Cooper Clarke found himself as one of the leading figures in the punk and youth culture of the late 70s performing to thousands across the UK. The revival of the 70s punk phenomenon of the past few years has seen a new generation grow to appreciate John’s work and his fame as rocketed once again. He performs a plethora of new poems and monologues, which he performs solo.
