Sarah Slean with Unkle Bob
TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2013
Sarah is a Canadian musician, actress, poet, composer, and artist. Described as "one of the most compelling acts Canada has to offer" (TIME Magazine) and nominated three times for her country's top music prize (The Juno Awards), multi-faceted singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Slean is hitting her stride. With her latest release, the ambitious double album Land & Sea, Slean incorporates aspects of cabaret, rock, pop, and orchestral, all knitted together by the startling poetry of her lyrics, virtuosic piano-playing, and that voice: "a 19th century Kate Bush" (CBC).
Unkle Bob returns to support brand new EP, Songs for Others, a record inspired by fans who commissioned singer-songwriter Rick Webster to write songs about their lives. Described by The Times as “a master of the lovelorn, desperate lyric”, and Q Magazine as penning “subtle, literate songs and genuinely seductive melodies” Songs For Others follows the critically acclaimed albums Sugar and Spite (2006), and Shockwaves (2010), records that made the band something of a cult phenomenon in the US. Their songs were the sound-track to countless US dramas (spawning well over 100,000 downloads in the process) whilst the song Swans was featured in the climax to a Grey's Anatomy storyline.
