BIO (April 2017)
Mt. Wolf trio (singer-producer Sebastian “Bassi” Fox, guitarist Stevie McMinn and drummer Alex Mitchell) return for 2017 with their debut album 'Aetherlight', to be released on 26th May.
2016 saw the band developing their sound and fanbase, and saw the release of their 2nd EP ‘Hex’ to huge critical acclaim. With songs of slowburning tension – ‘St. Michael’ is over five minutes long, fellow Hex tracks ‘Anacrucis’ and the title track are over six minutes – the band are being occasionally compared to Iceland’s Sigur Rós, but if you’re going to be compared to anyone, it might as well be one of the best, and Mt. Wolf are well equipped to handle people’s raised expectations. They stunned people the first time around, organically building an enviable fan base, and they’re in the process of doing it again. 2016 live dates started with a headline show at London’s Oslo and then a series of festival appearances (The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, Secret Garden Party, and Larmer Tree Festival) and ended with a sold out show at London’s Village Underground. The band ended the year on a high, collaborating with St. South on ‘Golden’ which has had over 4 million streams on Spotify.
The band have seen their presence across the world grow exponentially over the last 18 months, with hundreds of thousands of weekly listeners on Spotify and radio support in both the US, Australia and the UK (KCRW, BBC Introducing and Radio 1 specialist.) Starting the year with a bang, the band released the first track from the long awaited album, 6 minute epic ‘The Electric’. This was followed by ‘Heavenbound’ which was accompanied by a hugely emotive and thought provoking video that celebrated love triumphing in the face of hate and adversity.
2017 is another chapter in this big new beginning, which will see the debut album dropping in May closely followed by a headline UK tour. The band will continue to play live dates across the year, including a second year at SXSW, UK & European festivals over the summer, culminating in a second full UK & European tour this autumn. There is no hex on this band; just the most mouthwatering of futures. And nothing can stop them this time.
