Meet Mr Boom !

Mr Boom - the popular yet illusive children’s One Man Band from the moon has been visiting Planet Earth for over 33 years now. His imaginary space ship has landed in schools, theatres, tents and fields throughout Scotland and he’s been spotted as far around the globe as Tokyo, Vancouver and just this century down under in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. His five children’s CD albums and video/DVD sell worldwide and a Scottish generation of Wee Earthlings even spent six years visiting him in his lunar dome home, travelling “Over the Moon” via BBC2 educational TV, for which he presented some seventy 15 minute programmes for primary and nursery children in the 1990’s.

Always game for spontaneous banter Mr Boom invokes wholehearted, uninhibited participation in his hour long musical show full of interactive, educational fun. You’ll never be too old to enjoy Mr Boom and there are plenty of humorous asides for care worn parents. “Mr Boom is extraordinary, a childlike being from another planet who sheds a bizarre magic on the children who love him so much”....The Scotsman “His songs echo with an uncanny accuracy, the child's world with all it's hopes, fears and visions.".... The Herald Sing and Dance in Time and Space with Mr Boom (show description) Mr Boom - the children's One Man Band - arrives from the moon in an imaginary space ship of sound and light and launches straight into a very noisy but enthralling drum overture leading into a song which has the entire audience responding "Hello Mr Boom" to the beat of his big bass drum. The children tell Mr Boom that they'll sing along with him and the fun begins with a cohesive action song with an "all together now" chorus and verses intended to induce an awareness of the natural Planet. "Hello!s" are sung in different languages and Mr Boom listens as the children sing to him about distant galaxies. The questions "What are you?" and "Who are you?' underlie the simple banter that comes alive between Mr Boom and his audience. The show, normally one hour long, sees children (and many "grown ups") impersonating chickens, monkeys and crocodiles and forming planes and trains that fly and chuff around the stage and among the audience. 'Do you fancy having a wee dance ?" asks Mr Boom. The children dance in pixie rings and like planets going around the sun before waving goodbye to the musical moon man’s imaginary spaceship.

….. “Mr Boom entertained, involved and captivated the mass of kids from tots to tens with his almost subdued but strangely charismatic performance.” ….Orkney Today "he is doing something special, because the children love him. Hundreds of them recognise in his gentle playful simplicity, something of themselves," ....The Scotsman.
