FRIDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2012
7.00 p.m. - 11.00 p.m.
The Stranglers’ Hugh Cornwell comes to the Arches on Friday 5th October as part of a brand new UK tour to perform two complete albums: his eagerly anticipated new studio album Totem and Taboo, and The Stranglers’ seminal 1977 second album No More Heroes, with added keyboards.
One of the UK’s finest songwriting talents and most accomplished live performers, Cornwell is best known as the original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in British punk rock band The Stranglers. With ten hit albums and 21 Top 40 singles under their belt, the band are responsible for some of the most well known tracks in rock history, including Peaches, No More Heroes, Golden Brown, Always the Sun, Grip, Nice N Sleazy, Duchess and No Mercy.
Hugh’s forthcoming album Totem and Taboo, recorded at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago and engineered and mixed by Steve Albini (Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Pixies), will be released in August 2012 – don’t miss this exclusive chance to hear it played in full alongside classic Stranglers tracks.
“Cornwell remains a hugely popular and prolific performer whose songwriting retains its fiery eloquence and whose gigs still crackle with electricity”
